URA Logo Contest — We Have A Winner

After a two month process that included a three-phase selection process — committee review, membership survey, and executive board selection of the finalists — the URA is proud to announce that we have a winner of our logo contest.

Congratulations to URA member Brice Hammack. As the winner he will receive a $500 prize.

We had great feedback from our members during the survey section of the contest and received comments including “Excellent entries!”, “Nice logos” and “Good job — they are all quality logos!”

The logo will become the property of the URA and the final product may be altered for use in multiple treatments. It was great to see a diverse and talented pool of members participate in the contest, and we look forward to their continued participation in other activities and events.

Thank you to all who participated in identifying a new identity for the URA.

May 23, 2013 Announcement:

We have reached the next phase of the logo contest.  After running a contest among our talented membership, we received some wonderful submissions! We have narrowed down the pool to six candidates and now want you, the members, to weigh in on your favorites. A survey was sent out on May 16 to URA members to select your top three favorite logos. The voting process runs from May 16 to May 26.  If you did not receive the survey or are having trouble accessing the link please contact us at communicatons@ura-aft.org.

May 16, 2013 Announcement:

We have reached the next phase of the logo contest.  After running a contest among our talented membership, we received some wonderful submissions! We have narrowed down the pool to six candidates and now want you, the members, to weigh in on your favorites. A survey has been sent out to URA members to select your top three favorite logos. The voting process will run from May 16 to May 26. Once we have narrowed down the finalists, we will put the final decision to the URA Executive Board and will announce the winner of the contest and recipient of the $500 prize the week of June 4th. The winner will receive a $500 award.

March 14, 2013 Announcement:

The URA is seeking a new logo, and where better to look for a designer than among our very own talented and diverse members? If you are interested and think you have a winning idea, please give it a shot and submit your design by May 1, 2013. The winner will receive a $500 award.
When designing, please keep in mind that a good candidate will:

  • Include “URA” in large type and “Union of Rutgers Administrators” in smaller but still legible type.
  • Incorporate Rutgers Red (PMS 186) and AFT Blue (PMS 293). The logo may use just these two colors or may also include white, as the current logo does.
  • Look great in color and black and white and be usable in multiple treatments.
  • Be visually compatible with the AFT national logo   with which it often appears on newsletters, t‑shirts, and other official materials.
  • Will not, for legal reasons, resemble the Rutgers logo or include elements from it (such as the official block or script Rutgers R or the Rutgers seal)

Please submit entries in high resolution PDF or JPEG format and for every design, submit two versions – one in color and one in black and white to communications@ura-aft.org.  Each contestant may submit more than one design.

Even if you are not entering the contest, stay tuned because we will be asking members to vote on their favorite submission. Contestants must be signed, full dues-paying members. Please be aware that any chosen submissions become property of the URA-AFT organization.
