The following is a message from the New Jersey State AFL-CIO:

Thankful For Union Solidarity

AFL-CIOThanksgiving2017There is much to be thankful for this year, but one thing we can all appreciate is the value of labor’s collective voice. We are fortunate to live in a time and place where all workers have the right to join together in unions to advocate for respect, dignity and justice on the job and in their communities. Furthermore, through the New Jersey State AFL-CIO Labor Candidates Program, no other state has done more to elevate the voice of workers across all levels of government.

We have emerged from eight years of a disastrous anti-labor administration, thanks in large part to our unity. Now, we have an opportunity to build a prosperous future based on our shared middle class values and the belief that all workers must look out for one another. It’s no secret that what affects one sector of the labor movement can easily affect us all, and that is why labor solidarity is so important.

Here in New Jersey, we have the privilege to live in a state where our collective voice is strong, our mission is clear, and our gains will be determined by our willingness to work for them. This among the many gifts we enjoy from life, are reason to be thankful.

As always, we thank our union brothers and sisters for their work on behalf of our labor movement as well as our many progressive community partners. We wish all a Thanksgiving filled with happiness, good health, and gratitude for the days and work ahead.

In Unity,

Charles Wowkanech
