Bargaining Update and Call to Action

Bargaining Update:

Your URA bargaining team will return to the table on December 11th.  The team continues to fight for the priorities identified by the membership: fair pay, improved job security, maintaining our benefits, preventing another salary freeze, and more.  When we last met with management, we were offered an insulting 1.1% pay increase each year over four years.  We continue discussions with management on economic issues.  We also seek to find common ground on contract language that protects our members and makes good management sense.

End of the Year General Membership Meeting and 1st Annual COPE Reception

In light of the ongoing bargaining with management for our new contract we will not have a Holiday Party but will hold our general membership meeting and first annual COPE Appreciation Reception on Monday evening, December 8.

The COPE Committee invites all past and present voluntary contributors, participants in Labor–to-Labor Walks, Phone Banks, Get Out The Vote (GOTV), Voter Registration Drives, Lobby Days in Trenton, and Citizenship Volunteer Days to attend the December General Membership meeting on12/8/2014 to be recognized for their important contributions to the URA-AFT Local #1766 COPE program.

PLEASE RSVP to COPE Chair, Kay Schechter by Friday, 12/5/2014.

The reception will be held at the Busch Campus Center, Room 120 A,B,C on Monday 12/8/2014 from 5 pm — 7:30 pm. We hope you will be able to join us and be recognized for your participation in COPE activities. 

And during this season of giving, we ask that you join the URA in participating in Rutgers Against Hunger’s (RAH) Adopt-A-Family Program by bringing donations to the December 8th meeting.  We have adopted a family of four: a mother; female 9 years old (girls size 14–16 clothes, shoes/socks size 4, Doc McStuffins book fan); female 7 years old (girls size 8 pants, shirts medium, shoes/socks size 3, Disney Princesses fan); and a male 3 years old (boys size 4T, underwear 4T, shoes/socks 9T, Avengers Superheros fan).  Items still needed are: socks, clothes, shoes, and bedding (twin for male, full for females).  Any food donations would be greatly appreciated also.
