2013 Committee On Political Education (COPE) Questionnaire Results

{SurveyClipArt picture}On June 14 the URA-AFT Local #1766 COPE Committee sent out a survey to signed members asking them to identify key issues they had regarding upcoming New Jersey elections in 2013. These key issues will be incorporated into candidate surveys sent to all candidates to assist COPE in evaluating and making recommendations regarding candidate endorsements and contributions.

As noted in the survey, in addition to the Governor being up for election, the entire New Jersey Legislature is up for election this November; all 40 seats in the Senate and 80 seats in the General Assembly.

Thank you to all who participated in the COPE survey questionnaire.  Below are the top 3 results from each category of what is important to ask legislative candidates running in this year’s upcoming election.

Important Announcement Concerning Special Elections

(from the League of Women Voters)

The League of Women Voters of New Jersey has been a steadfast advocate for New Jersey voters for over 90 years. The League is very concerned that a special election for office of U.S. Senate that is held three weeks before the November General Election will cause voter confusion and decrease voter turnout.

To combat voter confusion and bolster participation, the League of Women Voters of New Jersey will step up our efforts to get voters to the polls for all three upcoming elections.

Special Primary Election: Tuesday, August 13, 2013

The special primary election for office of U.S. Senate will be held Tuesday, August 13.
