Retro-Pay Calculator

Please click this link to the retro pay calculator that we have created to assist you in determining your new salary/bi-weekly payment.  Note that there are two sections — the top (For Unit Members Prior to 4/1/11) are entitled to receive the first retro of 2.25%; the bottom (For New Unit Members after 3/31/11) only receive the second 2.25% retro of Feb. 1, 2012.

To use the calculator enter your bi-weekly pay in either A4 (unit members prior to 4/1/11) or A12 (new unit members after 3/31/11); the calculator will fill-in the other details.  For a standard outcome it is suggested that you put in a regular work week amount that does not include vacation, sick, other leave days, or overtime hours.

If the calculations are not correctly reflected in your March 16th paycheck please contact your department’s human resources liaison or Payroll at 732–445-3007.

Bonus Payments Corrected for Part-Time Members

Under the URA-AFT Agreement, members of our unit were to receive a $1000.00 bonus in the February 17 paycheck. This payment was not implemented fully for employees who work a partial work-week.

The problem was brought to a union representative by Cindy Braun, a Dining Hall Supervisor. The matter has been resolved speedily, and management has corrected the error without a need for any grievance hearing. The corrected bonus payments should have been found in the March 2 paycheck. Nearly $13,000 in additional bonus money was paid out to over 40 members.

County-based employees and winter break

Most Rutgers employees will enjoy a long holiday break this year, but some of our members working in Cooperative Extension, based in county offices will be working on the four floating holidays (Dec. 27–30  this year.)  County-based employees in the URA unit who are assigned to offices which follow a holiday schedule that is different than that set forth in Article 14 “Holidays” section of the 2007–2011 URA-AFT Administrative Unit Contract are entitled to a day and a half of holidays for each of those days when they work.

The March 18, 2008  agreement states that “…members of the bargaining unit who are assigned to county offices which follow a holiday schedule different from that set forth in the Agreement, shall follow the holiday schedule established in their respective county of assignment except that no such member shall receive less than 14 holidays.” It goes on to say that “Employees who are assigned to counties which schedule less than 14 holidays shall receive an extra personal holiday(s) to be scheduled within the same fiscal year at the mutual convenience of the bargaining unit member and his/her supervisor.”

The most common county holidays are Washington’s and Lincoln’s Birthdays, Good Friday, Columbus, Veteran’s  and Election Day.  However, if your county does not observe all of these, you should request personal holiday time from your supervisor, at the rate of 1 1/2 days.
