Join the URA-AFT

Having voted to create the Union of Rutgers Administrators, American Federation of Teachers by signing authorization for representation cards, Rutgers Administrative unit workers can now join the URA-AFT by signing a membership application.

The strength of URA-AFT is in the membership. Membership is voluntary. Members benefit by full participation in the union with voting privileges on important union issues including contract ratification and elections of officers.

Membership is the right thing to do.

Dues

URA-AFT members set the dues as 1.2% of salary. Based on projections, we believe this rate will provide an adequate budget for operating the union.

Your dues go to support the operation of URA-AFT. A percentage goes to the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), which provides us with national support on a range of important issues. The majority stays with URA-AFT to fund bargaining, legal, outreach and educational activities to strengthen the Administrative unit, Rutgers University and New Jersey.

Dues will be deducted from members’ checks by the university.

Non-members in the Administrative unit still benefit from URA-AFT representation and work under the same contract. Non-members will pay 85% of the full dues to offset the costs of representation, but do not have voting privileges.
