My name is Christine O’Connell and I am running for president of the URA-AFT.
I have been active in URA-AFT for many years, beginning my involvement as a steward and growing into the off campus representative role on the executive board, lead organizer of URA, and with your support, president this past term.
All my experience couldn’t prepare me for these past two years, living and working through a global pandemic and seeing the loss of friends and watching family members get sick with COVID-19. It makes my passion to serve your needs moving forward stronger, my persistence for Rutgers to recognize our value greater, and my resolve to see respect and dignity for all URA staff more determined.
I pledge to continue fighting for our needs but need your support, not just in this election, but beyond. Our voices raised together are undefeatable, our cumulative work is invaluable, and we need to embrace that belief and stand together in our demands. Let’s make Rutgers better together, URA!
Thank you for your continued confidence in me. With your support, I will do my best to continue to serve you to the best of my ability.
