Janice served on the URA-AFT bargaining team and has been elected to the executive committee. "As things were, Rutgers could change policies and procedures whenever and however they wanted. Now they have to include us in that process."

Joyce is a member of your URA-AFT Administrative unit bargaining team and an Executive Committee member, representing New Brunswick. "We needed to organize so that we could have a voice and an opportunity to be heard in order to improve our working conditions."

"To have input over the decisions that are made regarding employees’ welfare, both while working at RU and after retiring, is extremely important to me and to those employees who will be working at RU well after I retire"

This week's contract committee member profile is Theresa O'Neill who is working on the bargaining committee and has focused special attention on exploring health care options and proposals. Theresa is the URA-AFT Recording Secretary. "Administrative staff workers at other New Jersey colleges and universities are unionized and have been for many years. Finally, we have an opportunity to catch up and enjoy some of the benefits they have."
"I expect that now or sometime in the near future, you’ll have just as much pride in the URA as you do in the Scarlet Knights. We are volunteering our time on your behalf with this hope. There are many components of Rutgers that we are proud of. This will be one more point of pride."
